On January 31, 2023, at approximately 11:58 p.m., Columbus police responded to a reported shooting at a residence in the 2800 block of Atwood Terrace in the North Linden neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 60-year-old Ronald Eugene Price Sr. and a 37-year-old man, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, where Mr. Price was pronounced dead at 1:38 a.m. on February 1.
The 37-year-old victim sustained three gunshot wounds but survived his injuries.
The surviving victim informed detectives that he was in a separate room when he heard gunshots. Upon entering the room where Mr. Price was located, he was also shot. He provided detectives with the nickname of the shooter but was unaware of the individual's real name. Investigators compiled a photo array, and the surviving victim identified 34-year-old Paul Anthony Banks as the assailant. Subsequently, Banks was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the shooting.
Mr. Price's passing was publicly announced by Marlan Gary Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace North in Columbus, Ohio. He is survived by his children, Ronald Eugene Price Jr. and Lawyon Danta Price, as well as several grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Rosa Lee Hairston and Eugene Price, his stepfather James Hairston, and his stepsister Jenelle Brown.
