On September 24, 2023, 53-year-old John Barnett of Dayton, Ohio, was fatally shot in Harrison Township. The incident occurred around 7:25 p.m. in the 1900 block of Ontario Avenue. Barnett had been called by his grandsons, aged 20 and 15, to help de-escalate an argument with a 31-year-old man who had come to their residence seeking another individual.
