A man is murdered in Dayton, OH Michael Smith Jr., a 33-year-old Black male, was tragically murdered on August 28, 2015, in Dayton, Ohio. His body was discovered inside a burned-out vehicle at Triangle Park. Authorities later confirmed that he had also suffered a gunshot wound. The investigation into his death was immediately classified as a homicide.
Smith Jr.'s mother, Ernestine Smith, grew increasingly concerned when she did not hear from her son for several days.
She continued to call him, hoping he would answer, but her fears were confirmed when law enforcement identified the remains found in the vehicle as belonging to her son. She described Michael as a loving and likable person, as well as a devoted father to two boys. She expressed her hope that those responsible for his death would be held accountable.
The Dayton Police Department has been investigating the case, but as of now, there have been no reports of arrests or identified suspects. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in solving the case. Smith Jr.'s mother remains hopeful that justice will be served, while also focusing on her own health after undergoing a liver transplant.
