On October 11, 2023, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Columbus police responded to a report of an unresponsive individual in the 1300 block of Morse Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered 39-year-old Matthew Hurt, who was pronounced dead at the scene by medics at 4:39 a.m. A subsequent post-mortem examination by the Franklin County Coroner's Office revealed signs of foul play, leading authorities to rule Hurt's death a homicide.
