On December 9, 2023, at approximately 12:30 p.m., 22-year-old Hosea S. Hodges was fatally shot in the 1900 block of East Midlothian Boulevard on Youngstown's South Side. Responding officers administered life-saving measures before Hodges was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Mahoning County Coroner's Office confirmed Hodges' identity and is collaborating with the Youngstown Police Department in the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have identified suspects in connection with the homicide; however, no arrests have been made to date. Investigators believe the incident was targeted and assert there is no immediate threat to the public.
Born on September 28, 2001, in Youngstown, Hodges graduated from East High School and was employed by a roofing company, earning the nickname "Bob the Builder." He was a devoted father to two young children and cherished spending time with his family and attending church.
In the wake of his passing, Hodges' family initiated a memorial fund to honor his memory and support funeral expenses. Community members have been encouraged to contribute and assist the family during this challenging time.
