Charles Eric Allen Jr., a 27-year-old African American man from Youngstown, OH, tragically died on April 3, 2021. Known to his family and friends as "Eric," he was a talented musician and a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. His death occurred at the Utopia Video Nightclub on East Midlothian Boulevard in Youngstown.
Eric's mother, Aleesha Bell, revealed that her son had been involved in conflicts over the lyrics in his rap music, which named individuals connected to various
conflicts involving other Youngstown murders dating back almost a decade. Despite these conflicts, Eric continued to rap about them, believing that he might be targeted but accepting the risk.
In the aftermath of Eric's death, his mother publicly expressed her frustration with the lack of progress in the investigation. She staged a small protest in front of the Youngstown Police Department, alleging that the police were not doing enough to solve her son's murder. However, three years later, no arrests have been made in connection with his death.
The Youngstown Police Department has since indicated that they believe Eric's killer was also murdered, which is why no charges have been brought. Despite this, Aleesha Foster has found some closure, believing that her son's killer met a similar fate.
