On April 11, 2024, Delvon Kencaid Wilkerson Jr., age 21, died following a shooting incident in Columbus, Ohio. Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1000 block of East 21st Avenue at approximately 5:17 p.m. They found Kristion Gresham, also 21, with a gunshot wound at the scene; he was transported to Grant Medical Center for treatment. Shortly afterward, Wilkerson was located at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he had been brought in a vehicle riddled with bullet

The investigation revealed that Wilkerson and Gresham were involved in a violent altercation that escalated to an exchange of gunfire. On April 13, 2024, Gresham was arrested and charged with murder.
