On July 28, 2024, John Wilks, a 28-year-old resident of Columbus, Ohio, was fatally shot in a violent incident that has drawn significant attention from local authorities and the community. The shooting occurred around 10:11 PM in the 700 block of S. Ogden Avenue. Upon arrival at the scene, police found Wilks unresponsive with a gunshot wound.
