On the evening of August 29, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., emergency responders arrived at The Cruise Inn Bar on Northland Boulevard in Forest Park, Ohio, following reports of a shooting. They discovered 37-year-old Willie Lee Clark suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Clark was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations revealed that an argument had occurred between Clark and another individual inside the bar.
During the altercation, the assailant drew a firearm and shot Clark multiple times before fleeing the scene. Authorities later identified the suspect as 49-year-old Michael Leon Talley Jr. He was apprehended without incident on September 11, 2024, by the Hamilton County SWAT Team, Springfield Township Police, and agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
Talley was subsequently indicted on charges including aggravated murder with firearm specifications, two counts of murder with firearm specifications, felonious assault, and two counts of having weapons while under disability. Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers described the incident as a "cold-blooded, premeditated killing in a public space." At the time of the shooting, Talley was on probation for a prior gun charge conviction from February 2024 and was legally prohibited from possessing a firearm due to previous convictions, including an aggravated robbery in 1994. He had been convicted of illegally carrying a gun at least four times since 2004, with each offense resulting in probation.
Following his arrest, Talley's bond was set at $500,000. He remains in custody at the Hamilton County Justice Center, awaiting further legal proceedings. The swift actions of law enforcement and the thorough investigation have been commended by local authorities, emphasizing that such acts of violence will not be tolerated in the community.
