On November 7, 2024, 29-year-old Jamar Emerson Franklin of Akron, Ohio, was fatally shot. According to police reports, Franklin was seated in his vehicle in the parking lot of Tasty Carry Out on West Long Street when an unknown assailant shot him following a dispute. Despite his injuries, Franklin managed to drive a short distance before crashing at the intersection of South Main Street and West Miller Avenue.
