Ja’Sown Bivins, a 25-year-old Black male, was shot and killed on the night of June 5, 2025, in Akron, Ohio. Officers were called to the 1100 block of Johnland Avenue in the Goodyear Heights area shortly before 10 p.m. and found him lying in a driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene; the medical examiner recorded the time of death at 10:19 p.m.
Investigators said early evidence suggested Bivins had been outside speaking with someone in a vehicle when gunfire erupted and the vehicle sped away. The account of a drive-up shooting matched what detectives began canvassing for on neighborhood surveillance systems in the hours that followed.
