In the warm evening of Sunday, August 6, 2023, the life of 19-year-old Breeana Larita Webb, a Black female, was tragically cut short in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was attending a pool party at an apartment complex on South Buffalo Drive when gunfire erupted just before 11 p.m., turning a scene of summer leisure into one of chaos and violence.
Responding to the reports of a shooting, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrived to a distressing scene.
They discovered Webb unresponsive, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. She was rushed to University Medical Center, but her injuries proved fatal, and she was pronounced dead. The shooting resulted in two fatalities, with 22-year-old Zayveon Scott also losing his life after he independently went to a local hospital with gunshot wounds. A third individual was also shot but their condition was not publicly detailed.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Clark County coroner's office officially ruled Webb's death a homicide caused by gunshot wounds. As of the initial reports, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Section was actively investigating the incident. Authorities had not publicly identified any suspect or suspects, and no arrests had been announced in connection with the shooting.
