On October 2, 2023, at approximately 4 p.m., North Las Vegas police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 20 block of Hoke Edward Court, near North Commerce Street and West Lone Mountain Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered 21-year-old Jimmy Smith III suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
