On April 8, 2023, Don-Shay Hardy, a 38-year-old woman from Saint Paul, Minnesota, was tragically shot and killed in her apartment located in the Battle Creek neighborhood on the city's East Side. The incident occurred in the 200 block of Hillsdale Avenue. Police responded to the scene after receiving a distressing call when three young children ran screaming from the apartment to a neighbor, urging them to call 911.
According to reports, Don-Shay Hardy was involved in an argument with
her husband, Eddie Webb, 43, the day before the shooting. On the morning of April 8, Webb returned to Don-Shay's apartment while she was in the bathroom doing one of their children's hair. Witnesses state that Webb told the child to leave, but the child noticed a firearm in his pocket and refused. Webb then removed the child from the bathroom and locked himself inside with Don-Shay. The children heard Don-Shay yell, 'Stop — don't do that,' before hearing gunshots. When police arrived at the scene, Don-Shay Hardy was pronounced dead.
Following the incident, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Eddie Webb for Don-Shay's murder. Prosecutors charged Webb with murder, as the shooting occurred while three children were present in the residence. It was later revealed that due to previous felony convictions, Eddie Webb was prohibited from possessing a firearm. Tragically, on August 16, Eddie Webb was found dead from suicide. Don-Shay Hardy is survived by her two minor children. This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of domestic violence and gun-related crimes on families and communities.
