On the evening of July 27, 2024, at approximately 7:13 p.m., 20-year-old Mario Lamont Burley was walking with a group in the 2600 block of 3rd Avenue South in Minneapolis when he was shot. He sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to Hennepin Healthcare. Despite medical efforts, Burley succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 6:01 a.m. on July 28.
