On January 17, 2024, 23-year-old Zy'Torious Ja'hod Ruffin from Farmville, North Carolina, was reported missing. Investigators suspected he had been in the company of 24-year-old Raekwon Terrell Blount, who had been released on parole in September 2023 after serving time for his involvement in the 2012 Hustle Mart triple murders in Farmville. Utilizing data from Blount's ankle monitor, authorities tracked his movements to a rural area off King Farm Road, where they discovered Ruffin's body in a
wooded area, several feet in, among thick briars and tall grass. The autopsy revealed that Ruffin had been shot in the left arm and mid-back, indicating he was killed elsewhere before his body was dumped at the location.
The following day, January 18, 2024, Blount was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder. He was held at the Pitt County Detention Center under a $2 million bond. In March 2024, a second suspect, 26-year-old Anton Lamont Dixon of Greenville, was arrested and similarly charged with accessory after the fact to murder in connection with Ruffin's death. Dixon was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center on a $1 million secured bond, with additional outstanding orders bringing his total bond to over $6 million.
As of December 2024, no individuals have been charged directly with Ruffin's murder. The investigation remains active, with authorities continuing to piece together the circumstances leading to his death. Both Blount and Dixon are currently detained as the legal process unfolds.
