In the Strawberry Hill neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas, on the afternoon of November 8, 2024, the life of 21-year-old Daniel Thur came to a violent end. At approximately 5 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of North 6th Street and Splitlog Avenue. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene. Thur had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a male.
The investigation into the shooting moved swiftly.
Shortly after the incident, authorities apprehended a suspect, identified as 25-year-old David Marcos, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas. The Wyandotte County District Attorney's Office subsequently charged Marcos with second-degree murder in connection with Thur's death. The charges allege that Marcos "unlawfully, feloniously, and intentionally" caused Thur's death.
Following his arrest, David Marcos was booked into the Wyandotte County Jail, where he is being held on a $200,000 bond. While an arrest has been made, the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department's Major Case Unit is continuing to actively investigate the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting. Authorities have not yet released any details regarding a possible motive or the events that transpired before the shooting.
