In the late hours of a February evening in Kansas City, Kansas, a young Hispanic/Latino man's life was tragically cut short. Twenty-two-year-old Erick Reynaldo Rangel-Mendoza was sitting in his parked car in the parking lot of a Family Dollar located in the 1200 block of Central Avenue on February 21, 2020. In a sudden burst of violence, at least a dozen shots were fired from the direction of Central Avenue directly at his vehicle.
