In the spring of 2023, a young man’s life was abruptly cut short on a street in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans. Charlie Franklin, a 25-year-old male, was found inside a vehicle on the evening of Thursday, March 30th, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The grim discovery was made in the 3400 block of Franklin Avenue, near a local Shell gas station, where the scene of the fatal shooting would soon be cordoned off by law enforcement.
Emergency services were dispatched to
the location, but despite their efforts, Franklin succumbed to his injuries. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office later officially identified him as the victim of the homicide. News of his violent death rippled through the community, marking another tragic loss to gun violence in the city.
