On a late Sunday morning in Walker, Louisiana, the body of 24-year-old Danny Gonzales was discovered behind a restaurant in a shopping center off of Walker South Road, just north of Interstate 12. It was April 9, 2023, around 11:30 a.m., when employees of a nearby establishment stumbled upon the scene and alerted the authorities. Investigators from the Walker Police Department determined that Gonzales, a male who lived and worked in the area, had been shot to death in what they believed was not
a random act of violence.
The investigation quickly led police to suspect that Gonzales knew his attacker. Authorities began searching for a white SUV that was reportedly occupied by three men and was seen leaving the area. Their efforts soon led them to Jefferson Parish, where they located the vehicle, a white Honda SUV, and took it as evidence. This also led to the apprehension of one of the suspects believed to have been involved in the incident.
Marvin Palacios, a 26-year-old from Harvey, was arrested by deputies in Jefferson Parish. He was identified as the driver of the getaway vehicle and was slated to be transported to Livingston Parish to face charges. While Palacios was in custody, the Walker Police Department announced that they had issued an arrest warrant for the suspected shooter, though they did not publicly release his name as efforts to locate him were ongoing.
Police also indicated that they were working to identify the third man who was in the SUV. They anticipated that an arrest warrant would be issued for that individual as well. The investigation suggested a targeted event, with the victim and the alleged gunman having a pre-existing relationship, though the specific motive for the shooting was not immediately released by law enforcement officials.
