In the spring of 2023, the life of 16-year-old Sidney Nelson Jr., a male student at Central Lafourche High School, was tragically cut short. A native of Raceland, Louisiana, he was fatally shot on the afternoon of Monday, April 24th, in the 2600 block of Payne Street in Houma. When officers from the Houma Police Department arrived at the scene around 3:00 p.m., they discovered the young man deceased.
