On June 2, 2023, 40-year-old African American woman Joycelyn Bland was fatally shot in the Seventh Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. in the 2400 block of Allen Street. Officers responding to the scene discovered Bland suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
