In the early hours of a Wednesday morning in Sulphur, Louisiana, a series of gunshots shattered the quiet of West Verdine Street, leading to the tragic death of 25-year-old Gerard Wilson Jr. The male victim was discovered by police in the front yard of a residence, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The incident, which occurred on June 7, 2023, prompted a swift investigation by the Sulphur Police Department after they received numerous 911 calls reporting the gunfire shortly after
midnight.
Upon their arrival at the 600 block of W. Verdine Street, officers found a chaotic scene. Inside the house, another man, later identified as Andre Cornelius of Houston, Texas, was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. The investigation soon revealed another victim connected to the shooting when a man, identified as Nicholas Brown, was dropped off at a nearby hospital's entrance, also suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities believe Brown was involved in the same incident that claimed Wilson's life and left Cornelius injured.
The investigation quickly led to a person of interest. Two days after the shooting, on June 9, 2023, Sulphur Police arrested Connor Guillot in connection with the homicide. Guillot was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder for his alleged role in the death of Gerard Wilson Jr. At the time of Guillot's arrest, law enforcement indicated that further arrests were possible as they continued to actively investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. An additional arrest was later reported in connection with the homicide.
