In a tragic series of events on April 28, 2016, in Sulphur, Louisiana, 38-year-old Cody A. McAdams died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after murdering his estranged wife. The day's turmoil began when Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence in the Carlyss community in response to burglary and trespassing calls. At the scene, they found McAdams in a pasture behind the home of his wife's parents, where she and their 5-year-old daughter had been living.
