In the late hours of a Sunday evening, the quiet along Highway 90 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, was broken by a grim discovery. On June 29, 2025, the body of 23-year-old Kalin Jemel Stevens was found unresponsive on the roadside in the 6700 block of the highway. What was initially thought to be the scene of a tragic traffic accident quickly turned into a homicide investigation.
First responders, drawn to the scene by a 911 hang-up call around 11 p.m., at first believed Mr.
Stevens had been involved in a crash. However, a closer examination by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office revealed a more violent end to the young man's life; he had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The investigation pivoted as detectives began to piece together the events that led to the death of the Lake Charles resident.
As the inquiry progressed, authorities identified two suspects in connection with the shooting. Warrants for second-degree murder were issued for Larry J. Bigelow, Jr., 22, and Titus T. Tezeno, 22, both also from Lake Charles. Investigators believe the fatal incident was not a random act of violence but rather stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the individuals involved.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office has sought the public's assistance in locating the two suspects, cautioning that they should be considered armed and dangerous. A judge set the bonds for Bigelow and Tezeno at $1.5 million each. The investigation into the death of Kalin J. Stevens remains ongoing as authorities continue to search for the accused.
