In the late afternoon warmth of a New Orleans day, tragedy struck at the intersection of Egania and North Prieur streets in the Lower Ninth Ward. On August 16, 2023, 44-year-old Orethean Morgan, a male, was caught in a burst of gunfire that shattered the neighborhood's calm. The violent encounter left him with fatal injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
