In the Central City neighborhood of New Orleans, a life was tragically cut short on November 5, 2023. Melvin Alberto Rodriguez Manueles, a 35-year-old male, was fatally wounded in a shooting that occurred in the 2600 block of First Street. The incident left the community shaken and authorities searching for answers.
The investigation into the death of Rodriguez Manueles led the New Orleans Police Department to identify a suspect.
Through their efforts, 24-year-old Jose Gabriel Gamboa-Escobar was positively identified as the alleged perpetrator in the fatal shooting. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for Gamboa-Escobar.
On January 3, 2024, the U.S. Marshals New Orleans Task Force apprehended Jose Gabriel Gamboa-Escobar. He was then booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center. Gamboa-Escobar is facing one count of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Melvin Alberto Rodriguez Manueles.
