In the quiet neighborhood of Heritage Circle in Monroe, Louisiana, the morning of Wednesday, November 15, 2023, was shattered by a discovery that would forever alter the lives of one family. Responding to a distress call, Monroe Police Department officers arrived at a residence at approximately 7:42 AM to find 20-year-old Jaylin Dewayne Robinson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, the young man, a former student of Richwood High School, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The initial investigation into the death of the young male led police to seek help from the public. Detectives urged residents in the vicinity to review their security camera footage from the late evening of November 14th to the morning of November 15th for any unusual activity. Authorities also announced they were searching for a gray Dodge Charger that they believed might be connected to the homicide.
An arrest was made in connection to the fatal shooting. Twenty-one-year-old Isaiah Atkins was taken into custody and booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center. He is facing charges of second-degree murder and armed robbery, with his bond set at 1.25 million dollars. Investigators allege that Atkins had arranged a drug deal with the victim with the intention of robbing him and had even formulated an escape plan.
