On December 20, 2023, Derrick Broadway, a 44-year-old man from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was fatally shot in the 2600 block of Convention Street. The incident occurred around 7:19 p.m. following a verbal altercation with a male suspect. Broadway was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
