On New Year's Day of 2024, a grim discovery was made in New Orleans, marking a tragic start to the year. The decomposing body of 27-year-old Eddie Lee Rodrigue, Jr., a male resident of the city, was found concealed under a mattress on Burke Street. An investigation swiftly determined that Rodrigue had been shot to death, making his case the first homicide of the year in New Orleans.
