On a grim evening in New Orleans, the life of 22-year-old Justin 'Jazz' Mitchell was tragically cut short. On October 7, 2013, just before 7 p.m., Mitchell was discovered on the front lawn of a residence in the 4700 block of Stemway Drive in the eastern part of the city. He had been fatally wounded by a single gunshot to the chest. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, leaving a void of unanswered questions for his grieving family, which included his five young sons.
