In the spring of 2024, a violent encounter in Baton Rouge tragically claimed the life of 47-year-old Lucas Nolan Webb. On the evening of April 15th, Webb was at the Fountain Motel on Airline Highway when a shootout erupted in the parking lot. The incident, which unfolded around 8:10 p.m., resulted in the deaths of two men, including Webb.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, the violence began when a 28-year-old man named Michael Beverly started shooting at a group of people
in the motel's parking area. In response to Beverly's aggression, an individual from the group drew their own weapon and returned fire. Beverly was struck and killed by the retaliatory gunfire. Tragically, Lucas Webb was caught in the crossfire and also sustained fatal injuries at the scene.
Following an investigation into the double fatality, law enforcement officials deemed the shooting to be a case of justifiable homicide. The individual who shot both Beverly and Webb remained at the motel and cooperated with the police. Investigators concluded that this person acted in self-defense and, as a result, would not face any charges related to the deaths. The case was closed without any arrests being made.
