Warren J. 'Boobie' Richard, Jr., a 45-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in his New Orleans, Louisiana residence. A native and resident of the city, Richard was a husband and father. He was formerly an employee of Marathon Petroleum Corporation and the proprietor of Trading Cards Vintage Clothing. Remembered for his kind heart and love for his family, friends, and the New Orleans Saints, Richard maintained a close bond with his children.
The tragic event
unfolded in the Little Woods neighborhood of New Orleans East, in the 10800 block of Kinneil Road. Responding to a call at approximately 8:42 a.m., New Orleans Police Department officers discovered Richard inside the home with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital by New Orleans EMS, where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators determined that two men, disguised as construction workers, approached the residence. They allegedly forced one person inside at gunpoint before the fatal shooting occurred. The crime scene reportedly showed signs of a violent struggle. Surveillance video from the victim's own system captured the assailants grabbing Richard outside of the house.
Following an investigation, the New Orleans Police Department arrested 54-year-old Reginald Favaroth. He has been charged with one count of second-degree murder in connection with Warren Richard's death. The investigation into the second suspect is ongoing.
