Tellie Jo Simmons, a 30-year-old woman from Mendocino County, California, was last seen on December 25, 2013. Her family last had contact with her around Christmas of that year. After she left her family's home, her cell phone became inactive. A missing persons report was filed with the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office on January 14, 2014, after her family was unable to get in touch with her. At the time of her disappearance, Simmons was described as being 5'11" tall and weighing 135 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She may have used the last name Myers.
Simmons lived a transient lifestyle and was known to frequent the Laytonville and Comptche areas of Mendocino County. She had a history of drug involvement and was associated with drug users. Her mother fears she met with foul play at the hands of people involved with methamphetamine. In the year leading up to her disappearance, Simmons had expressed suicidal thoughts on social media. Prior to her disappearance, in July 2013, she and a male companion were arrested after being found in a stolen vehicle with drug paraphernalia. This resulted in four felony charges for Simmons.
There are allegations that Simmons was involved with a robbery crew that targeted growers and dealers. According to unsubstantiated claims, some of the victims of these robberies put out a reward for her, dead or alive. It has been rumored that individuals she committed burglaries with were responsible for her death. However, her case remains unsolved and is still an active investigation. The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office has a tip line for anyone with information regarding her disappearance.
