Brenda Thomas-Morris, a 44-year-old woman, died from a gunshot wound on June 26, 2024, in Gonzales, Louisiana. Ascension Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a call at her residence on Garcon Road around 7:30 p.m. and found her deceased.
An investigation into the incident indicated that an argument between Thomas-Morris and her husband, Sean Morris, 50, escalated, leading to the fatal shooting. Sean Morris was arrested in connection with his wife's death.
It was later reported that there had been a history of domestic violence allegations against him.
Known for her 'warmth, talent, and that unforgettable, infectious smile,' Brenda Thomas-Morris was the head cook at Lamendola's Supermarket for over 13 years. In the wake of her death, a domestic violence awareness and prevention march was organized in her honor to continue her work of advocating for awareness and prevention.
