Carla Vessel Miller, a 25-year-old woman from Gonzales, Louisiana, was tragically killed on March 10, 1999. On that fateful day, her estranged husband, Shon Miller Sr., committed a horrific act of violence that left the community in shock. Shon Miller Sr. entered the New St. John Fellowship Baptist Church during a Wednesday night Bible class and opened fire, killing Carla, their 2-year-old son Shon Jr., and a church deacon named Vaniaro Jackson.
