Reports indicate that James was involved in an argument with another male over the ownership of a set of headphones. During the confrontation, James allegedly pushed the other individual.
In response, the other male produced a firearm and shot James in the chest.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and the teenager was transported to Ochsner LSU Health hospital. Despite medical efforts, Deidrick D. James succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Shreveport Police detained one person of interest and recovered a firearm. However, no immediate arrests were announced in connection with the homicide. The investigation into the death of Deidrick D. James is ongoing.
