In the summer of 2024, the life of Manuel Rivas, a 38-year-old man, was abruptly ended by gun violence in New Orleans. On Friday, July 12th, Rivas became one of several victims of separate shootings that occurred in the city, a grim reality of the violence that plagued the community. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office would later officially identify him as one of the deceased, confirming the tragic outcome of the incident that took place in the 7th Ward.
