In the late summer of 2024, the quiet rural landscape of Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, became the backdrop for a grim discovery. On the morning of Friday, August 2, the Claiborne Parish Sheriff's Office received a report of a possible shooting on Maddry Road. When deputies arrived, they found the body of 42-year-old Bradley Joseph Swint, a White / Caucasian male from nearby Arcadia.
Swint had been shot, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation into the death of Bradley Swint quickly escalated into a multi-agency effort. Detectives from the Claiborne Parish Sheriff's Office were soon joined by their counterparts from the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office. Together, they began to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. Their collaborative work soon identified several individuals believed to be involved in the homicide. The investigation suggested that Swint had been deliberately lured to the remote location on Maddry Road where he was ambushed and killed.
The first suspect to be apprehended was Marrisa Cheyenne Pauley, a 31-year-old woman from Minden, Louisiana. Investigators located her at a residence in Dubberly and took her into custody. She was initially booked at the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center as a fugitive from Claiborne Parish. Following Pauley's arrest, warrants for second-degree murder were issued for two other suspects: 23-year-old Michael Tendle Wright and 50-year-old Kris Scott Tomlinson, both of West Monroe, Louisiana.
A coordinated effort between multiple law enforcement agencies led to the swift apprehension of the remaining suspects. On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, Michael Tendle Wright was located and arrested at a residence in the Deville Community of Rapides Parish by the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals Violent Offender Task Force. The final suspect, Kris Scott Tomlinson, turned himself in to the Claiborne Parish Sheriff's Office the following day, on Wednesday, August 7. With all three suspects in custody and charged with second-degree murder, the investigation continued with assistance from the Madison and Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Offices.
