In the small town of Homer, Louisiana, a dispute between two acquaintances escalated into a fatal encounter, leaving one man dead and another facing a murder charge. On the afternoon of March 2, 2022, events took a tragic turn at the Oil Mill Street residence of 64-year-old Johnny Lee Gilbert. An altercation broke out between Gilbert and 69-year-old Jerry Glyn Williams, a fellow resident of Homer.
The argument culminated in Williams allegedly shooting Gilbert, which resulted in his
death. The Homer Police Department initially responded to the incident but soon requested the assistance of the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations to lead the homicide investigation. Detectives from the Bossier Field Office arrived at the scene to piece together the events that led to the deadly shooting.
As a result of their initial investigation and the information they gathered, authorities arrested Jerry Glyn Williams. He was subsequently booked into the Claiborne Parish Jail on one count of second-degree murder. The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab processed the scene for evidence, and the Homer Police Department and Claiborne Parish Sheriff's Office assisted in the ongoing investigation.
