In the late summer of 2024, a tragedy struck a Baton Rouge neighborhood when 14-year-old Travez Washington was found dead. On the afternoon of Thursday, August 8, 2024, reports of gunshots in the vicinity of Dayton Street, near Interstate 110, drew the attention of law enforcement. Responding officers discovered the young male's body in a ditch, bearing multiple gunshot wounds.
