On August 28, 2024, the body of 19-year-old Dallas Lewis of New Iberia, Louisiana, was found in the front yard of a residence on Gerald James Drive in Iberia Parish. The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the scene after witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the area. The Iberia Parish Coroner's Office later identified the victim as Dallas Lewis and confirmed that he had died from a gunshot wound, ruling his death a homicide.

Following their investigation, authorities arrested 22-year-old Bradley Fontenot III in connection with the murder.

The case is no longer considered unsolved, with Fontenot facing charges for the death of Dallas Lewis.
