In the late summer of 2020, the life of Quantravious Keturin Alexis, a 23-year-old African American man, was abruptly ended on a street in his hometown of New Iberia, Louisiana. On the evening of August 9th, violence erupted in the 900 block of Mississippi Street, culminating in a fatal shooting. First responders found Alexis at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries right there on the pavement.
