In the warm summer of 2021, the community of New Iberia, Louisiana, was shaken by an act of violence that claimed the lives of two young men. On the evening of Thursday, July 22nd, 20-year-old Cortez Montgomery was fatally shot. The incident, which also resulted in the death of 18-year-old Keondre Carlisle, unfolded on Mississippi Street, marking a tragic loss for the city. Cortez was a male resident of the area.
