In the late summer of 2024, the life of Kasey Egbi, a 36-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire on Sofas Street in New Iberia, Louisiana. On the evening of August 25th, Egbi was with others when shots rang out, creating a scene of chaos and terror. In the aftermath, Egbi and a 31-year-old woman, Dewanna Broussard, lay dead, and a third individual was wounded.
