In the late morning of November 23, 2022, the life of 22-year-old Brailon Jack, an African American male, was tragically cut short in New Iberia, Louisiana. Just before noon, at the intersection of Field and Elizabeth streets, Jack was discovered lying in the road with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival.
The investigation into Jack's death moved swiftly, and on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022, a
17-year-old male was taken into custody. The juvenile suspect faces a litany of serious charges, including first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, obstruction of justice, and violating a firearm-free zone. He is being held at the Terrebonne Juvenile Detention Center as authorities determine whether he will be tried as an adult.
Further investigation identified two other suspects in connection with the murder. On December 1, 2022, Jhamad Allen turned himself in to the New Iberia Police. Allen was charged with felony obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and was subsequently booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
A third suspect, Jytraveous Eugene, remains at large and is wanted by the New Iberia Police Department. He is facing charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, obstruction of justice, and violating a firearm-free zone. Authorities are continuing to seek information from the public to locate Eugene and bring all individuals involved in Brailon Jack's death to justice.
