In a tragic turn of events on a Wednesday evening in Lake Charles, Louisiana, a dispute between neighbors culminated in the shooting death of 56-year-old David K. Fife. The incident, which unfolded on September 25, 2024, on Bennie Lane, led to the arrest of his neighbor, 26-year-old Christian K. Bourriague.
According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, the fatal encounter began as a verbal altercation. Bourriague himself called 911 at approximately 8:30 p.m.
to report that he had shot Fife. He claimed that Fife had charged at him in his driveway.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found David K. Fife deceased outside with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators learned that during the argument, Fife had initially grabbed a weapon. Although he reportedly put the weapon down, he continued to advance toward Bourriague, who was armed with a handgun. It was at this point that Bourriague allegedly shot Fife.
Following the initial investigation, Christian K. Bourriague was arrested and has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of David K. Fife. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. An obituary for David Kyle Fife described him as a journeyman electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers who loved his family and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
