In the early morning hours of March 14, 2023, the life of 16-year-old Antavious Roberts, a Black male, was cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. The tragic events unfolded in an east Louisville neighborhood, where police responded to a report of a shooting around 1:45 a.m. in the 11400 block of Tazwell Drive.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Roberts suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate attention of emergency medical services, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity and that the cause of death was homicide by gunshot. While the initial call led police to Tazwell Drive, Roberts' body was ultimately found at 11549 Ford Place.
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into the shooting. However, there have been no arrests made in connection with the death of Antavious Roberts, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The case remains an open and active investigation. Law enforcement officials have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and contact the LMPD's anonymous tip line.
