Myles Cameron Diamond, a 19-year-old male from Winston-Salem, NC, tragically lost his life on October 1, 2016. Emergency Services Personnel responded to a call at 1450-A Bruce Street on Saturday evening, where they found Diamond suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. Despite undergoing surgery, Diamond succumbed to his injuries and passed away at 3:19 p.m. on Sunday.
The investigation revealed that a gunshot was heard inside the Bruce Street residence at approximately 7 p.m.
on Saturday night. Witnesses reported seeing a man leaving the scene shortly after the gunshot was heard. Authorities later identified the suspect as Christopher Marcus Wilson Jr., a 22-year-old male who was Diamond's roommate at the time of the incident.
Wilson was arrested and charged with murder in connection with Diamond's death. He was taken into custody at the Public Safety Center without incident and held in the Forsyth County Detention Center with no bond allowed. The police have not released a possible motive for the crime or any additional details about the investigation.
This tragic event marked Winston-Salem's 21st homicide of the year, a significant increase compared to the previous year. The community was left in shock and mourning as they grappled with the loss of a young life and the circumstances surrounding his untimely death.
