In the late morning hours of a Saturday in Austell, Georgia, a life was tragically cut short. On August 17, 2024, police responded to a call of a person shot at a residence on Clay Road. Upon their arrival at 10:37 a.m., they discovered the body of 26-year-old Pablo Alejandro Sandoval of Kennesaw. He was found lying in the front yard, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency responders from the Austell Fire Department were dispatched to the scene, but their efforts to render aid were in vain, as Sandoval was pronounced dead at the location.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led authorities to a suspect. Within hours of the incident, Cobb County police had identified and arrested 39-year-old Anthony Alex McDuffie of Marietta. The motive for the shooting has not been publicly released by investigators.
Following his arrest, Anthony Alex McDuffie was booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. He is facing charges of voluntary manslaughter and additional firearms charges. McDuffie is currently being held without bond as the legal process moves forward. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have encouraged anyone with additional information to come forward.
